In a global first, Indonesia’s state-owned and most profitable lender, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) has launched a satellite dedicated to serving BRI services.
As the exclusive Digital agency for the BRI Bank, we are excited to be supporting the bank with the satellite launch and are proud to be partners with the first bank globally to own their own satellite and undertake an initiative of this magnitude.
The satellite was launched by French satellite launch provider Arianespace at the Guiana Space Center in Kourou, French Guiana. It is expected to begin operating in August.
The need for satellite communications has becoming increasingly urgent due to the growth of BRI’s network. Improved communications will help lower IT costs and result in less of a reliance on rented transponders.
From its orbital position at 150.5° East, it will deliver highly consistent and dependable communications services to BRI’s 11,000 office branches and more than 50 million customers. The satellite will also service more than 100,000 e-Channel outlets.
